Why and how did you get involved with TRUE Mentors?

When I first heard about TRUE Mentors, almost 4 years ago, I was immediately intrigued.  I was already very involved in the community, and a parent myself. I was starting to notice how there were tons of activities for kids under the age of 6 or 7 years old, but hardly any for older kids.  As I started to learn more about TRUE Mentors’ mission and the ideas they had for reaching kids ages 7-17, I started to become more passionate helping the organization

Why would you recommend others to be involved?

These kids  are so fantastic!  They WANT to be the best they can be.  They just aren’t always fortunate enough to have the support system they need to thrive.  When I volunteer in the weekly classes, I feel that I’m helping those who are actually trying to help themselves.

Seeing the strong relationships being built between the mentors and their mentees just reaffirms that what TRUE Mentors is doing is a good thing; beneficial to both the kids and the adult volunteers involved.
