COVID-19 UPDATE. As of March 20, 2020, all TRUE Mentors in-person programs are suspended until further notice. We encourage mentors to continue supporting their mentees. Please see our Virtual Mentoring Resource page for assistance.
In addition, from April – May 31, 2020, we are providing Virtual Enrichment Club Sessions via Zoom between 6 – 8 PM with two activities per week.
Our Teen Independence Program participants can receive weekly assignment and workshops via email by contacting Maria@TRUEMentors.org.
TRUE Mentors hosts many events throughout the month and we are constantly updating our calendar. Each calendar event contains contact information in case you have any questions. We look forward to impacting the lives of children in Hoboken with you.
This Giving Tuesday, December 3rd-31st, TRUE Mentors needs your help!
We are looking for corporate and community partners to help us with a fundraising campaign of their choice that will ensure our three programs continue to grow and thrive.
Each fundraiser will focus on a specific campaign for one of our three programs: an Enrichment Club activity or project, a Mentoring Anniversary outing, or an all-program field trips.
What can you do?
Talk to your HR department, contacts or friends that might be interested in setting up a Holiday fundraiser between December 3rd through December 31st (or later). You can select whichever campaign from our registry here or off our Giving TRUESDay Campaign Wish List that appeals to you or your network the most. The Goals range from as low as $15!
Once you’ve chosen a campaign, let us know, and we will draft a custom fundraiser page that will track all donations. We can also generate a campaign flyer.
What happens if more than one person or organization is interested in the same fundraiser?
We are able to link campaigns so that multiple parties can contribute to the same fund while still tracking the donations. Once a goal is reached, the campaign can be shut off. Note: some projects, such as Mentor anniversary outings, do not have a goal cap as funds would provide them on an ongoing basis.
What happens if you don’t raise all of the funds?
We are able to receive partial donations which we can aim to supplement with other fundraising events or efforts throughout the year. We will also reach out to you if we believe those funds can be better utilized for a different campaign, and are flexible with the deadline for most campaigns.
What else do you need to know?
TRUE Mentors is a 501-3C non-profit and can provide the necessary documentation to claim tax credit for donations. We provide free youth services to age 7 – 18 (or high school graduation) to residents of Hudson county. Our three programs are 1:1 Mentoring, Enrichment Clubs, and our Teen Internship Program.
Why is this so important?
Not only is TRUE Mentors the only 1:1 Mentoring provider in Hoboken, we provide all of our services free of charge. Over 90% of our participants come from low-income homes, meaning our programs provide opportunities that would not be available to them otherwise. This is why it’s so important to us to fund a robust calendar of activities.
No one knows TRUE Mentors like our volunteers, and any help with these campaigns would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope to hear from you!
Thank you for your continued support – we couldn’t do this without all of you!
