Starting April 7, 2020 TRUE Mentors launched virtual Enrichment Clubs in the hopes of continuing to engage our participants in healthy activities despite isolation barriers.
Enrichment Club sessions for April – May 2020 are being offered via zoom and include such topics as: yoga and meditation, BollyHIIT, mandala drawing, circus club, science experiments and origami.
During the month of May we have a full line up of interactive clubs with topics in: art, stress relief, dance, and cooking. This past Tuesday, May 5, in honor of National Nurses Week, we hosted a ‘Thank You Card’ club in which participants spoke with volunteer and mentor, Zach Bernstein.
As an essential worker himself, Zach discussed his experience working at Mount Sinai Hospital and answered questions from our participants about the current situation and how he ended up working in healthcare in the first place. Together, we created a thank you letter and original artwork to send in support of our gratitude to the nurses he works with.
If you are interesting in sending your own ‘Thank You Card’ but were unable to participate in this week’s Enrichment Club session, please email Maria for details on how to participate at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are excited to continue to provide and support our participants and families during these challenging times. Our efforts can not continue without the help of our dedicated volunteers, who continually support our virtual programs whether it is as a mentor, homework helper, enrichment club teacher and more!
