TIP Teams Up to Make a Difference

Community Service Projects

The month of October our teen interns and mentors volunteered their time in the Hoboken community. We kicked off our month of service with Hoboken Grace 1Day, an annual day of giving back to the community (pictured left). This was our second year participating in this event and the tradition of fun and helping others continued. This year, we volunteered at St. Matthews, helping complete various outdoor projects for the church. It was fun to see our interns come together and help make their community a better place.

Our interns and mentors also volunteered at our first annual Pizza Fest, serving up slices (pictured right), greeting our guests and signing up interested volunteers at our TM booth! We enjoyed watching our interns step outside their comfort zone and speak to members of the community about our programs and how they can get involved. Thanks to their volunteer recruiting efforts, we were able to sign up new volunteers for our Enrichment Club program!

Another first for our mentors and interns was teaming up to run/volunteer at the HoBOOken 5k benefiting the Hoboken Homeless Shelter. This was a fun activity for our mentors and mentees to participate in together, providing another opportunity to build TRUE relationships and support a local non profit. “It was Elaine’s first time running a 5k and I think being side by side the entire time was a really cool experience for both of us.”
